Job summary

University of Mary is seeking an Overnight Lead Custodian/Dining Room Attendant for 1am–6am hours. The role combines front-of-house dining room duties with custodial responsibilities across campus spaces, including LVUC and MAC atrium, and gym floor maintenance twice weekly. The position includes a duty phone and supports the Benedictine mission.

Starting pay is $20.00 per hour with benefits, and a strong emphasis on hospitality and safe, clean facilities across the campus community.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of assigned building and surrounding grounds.
• Perform routine custodial duties: dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning.
• Adhere to procedures for a safe working environment.
• Operate commercial vacuums and floor scrubbers with training.
• Perform and document inspections on safety equipment and emergency lighting.
• Report maintenance concerns via work orders.
• Restock custodial supplies and perform related duties.

Overnight Lead Custodian/Dining Room Attendant

This combination position has a pay scale starting at $20.00 per hour with benefits. The Dining Attendant is a front of the house position and will maintain cleanliness and communication with customers in the campus restaurant Crow’s Nest. The custodial duties are from approximately 1am – 6am, maintaining the cleanliness in the LVUC and MAC atrium, common areas, bathrooms, clean the gym floor 2x week, and Fieldhouse every other week. This position will carry the duty phone and respond to calls.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include:

• Maintaining the cleanliness of assigned building and the surrounding grounds
• Performs general routine custodial duties to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning, sanitizes and supplies restroom facilities
• Adheres to established procedures to provide a safe working environment
• Can operate commercial vacuums, carpet shampooers and floor scrubbers with training
• Perform and document routine inspections on safety equipment, emergency lighting
• Reports maintenance concerns via work order requests
• Ordering/Restocking custodial supplies
• Performs other related duties as requested and assigned

Desired Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience include:

• High School diploma or GED is required
• Previous professional cleaning, maintenance, or grounds experience is preferred
• Upholds andsupports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
• Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
• Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality inthe Office of Physical Plant and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license
• Ability to communicate clear written and verbal messagesAbility to present a professional image
• Knowledge of safety equipment usage (e.g. AED, fire extinguishers, etc.), proper cleaning methods, and safety measures essential to the work environment
• Ability to work outdoors in temperature extremes, work with high noise levels, heights and must have the ability to repetitively lift up to 50 lbs.
