Job summary

Washington County's Department of Juvenile Services seeks a Juvenile Counselor to join Custody Services, a 24/7 operation. The role supports safety and supervision of youth in custody and coordination of secure transports to facilities within Oregon and, as needed, interstate transfers.

The position requires strong interpersonal skills, a relevant degree or substantial experience with youth, a valid Oregon driver's license, and the ability to pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, counseling, psychology, sociology, social work, or related juvenile justice field with practicum or 1 year supervised experience.
• Associate's degree with 3 years of supervised counseling of juveniles and families, or 5 years of such experience.
• Must possess a valid Oregon driver's license and pass a background check; CPR certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Support custody operations for youth in a 24/7 setting.
• Interact with youth, families, and law enforcement in a high-risk environment.
• Assist with secure transports to facilities within Oregon and interstate transports as needed.
