Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System seeks a Clinical Pharmacist for inpatient care at the Olathe Hospital. The role requires ensuring safe, effective, and cost-conscious drug therapy, and entails round participation, patient education, and precepting responsibilities.

Required: PharmD/BS with license, ACLS/PALS/NRP as needed, BLS, and PGY-1/2 residency preferred. This is a full-time overnight position with opportunities to support residency programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university.
• Completion of an accredited pharmacy post graduate training program (PGY-1 and/or PGY-2 residency program).
• Licensed Pharmacist – State Board of Pharmacy in state of primary practice site.
• ACLS – American Heart Association certification as necessary.
• PALS and/or NRP certification as necessary.
• BLS – American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Participates in organizational and departmental performance improvement efforts to improve pharmaceutical care.
• Attends patient care rounds and provides patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
• Supports staffing needs by flexing to other areas or shifts to assist in coverage.
• Ensures timely medication order processing through order entry and verification.
• Performs patient-specific medication profile reviews and dose adjustments as needed.
• Reports medication incidents and adverse drug reactions via PSN and participates in reviews.
• Participates in medication reconciliation at admission, transfer and discharge and educates patients.
• Provides educational presentations or in-services for staff and supports residency programs and internships.
