Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Knoxville seeks an experienced Veterinary Technician for overnight ICU/ER responsibilities. Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of veterinary hospital experience (Emergency, ICU, or Specialty strongly preferred).
• Advanced technical skills in anesthesia, emergency procedures, and patient monitoring.
• Comfortable working independently on overnight shifts.
• Strong communication skills and a calm, confident presence in high-pressure situations.
• Physically able to lift, restrain, and stand for extended periods.
• A true patient-first mindset and commitment to gold-standard care.
• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, CVT).
• Prior experience in Emergency, ICU, or Specialty Medicine.
• Familiarity with critical care protocols and specialty diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Overnight monitoring and management of ICU and critical care patients.
• Advanced procedures: IV catheter placement, blood collection, transfusions, radiographs, anesthesia induction and monitoring.
• Emergency stabilization, triage, and urgent interventions.
• Support diagnostics: ultrasound, endoscopy, and advanced lab testing.
• Administer medications via IV, IM, SQ, oral, and injectable routes.
• Deliver post-procedure and critical care monitoring updates to owners.
• Communicate treatment plans and next steps with clarity and compassion.
• Work with ER doctors, ICU teams, and Internal Medicine specialists.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure clean, stocked spaces.
