PetVet Care Centers' Carolina Veterinary Specialists - Greensboro is seeking an Overnight ICU Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with daily tasks, equipment maintenance, and patient care in a busy veterinary environment.

The role involves handling patients overnight, assisting with medications, preparing surgery suites, and performing clerical duties while upholding a culture of care for pets and clients. Thursday–Saturday night shifts are typical.

Qualifikationen

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of veterinary assistant experience required.

Aufgaben

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and their owners as they arrive and show them to an examining room, taking the patient's weight and other vital signs upon arrival.
• Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medications as directed by licensed veterinary technicians.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with administration of medications or patient restraint.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment including EKG, fluid pumps, scales, and anesthetic monitors.
• Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, maintain proper documentation and controlled drugs records.
• Feed patients as prescribed and record appetites; report unusual conditions.
• Communicate with clients to ensure they feel comfortable leaving their pet.
• Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medicinal plans.
• Maintain cleanliness of the hospital and kennels; ensure safe chemical use.
• Bath and care for overnight patients; ensure proper grooming before release.
• Adhere to safety and wellness regulations and carry out orders from DVM/LVT.
• Maintain accurate medical records and show up for scheduled shifts.
• Promote hospital products and services and support the organization.
