Job summary

The Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) is recruiting a Hospital and EMU Rounder-Nocturnist for the Baltimore area. The position focuses on overnight hospital medicine, EMU patient management, and coordination with the daytime Hospital Medicine team to ensure safe, high‑quality patient care.

Minimum requirements include MD or DO, Board Certified or Eligible in Internal Medicine, and licensure in DC, Maryland, or Virginia.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Board Certified or Eligible in Internal Medicine.
• Currently licensed or able to obtain licenses in DC, MD, and VA.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive overnight medical care, including admissions and cross-coverage.
• Evaluate and manage EMU patients with coordination of consultants and daytime team.
• Assess appropriateness of hospitalization and level of care in collaboration with ED, consultants, and care management.
• Support appropriate utilization of hospital resources and consider alternative care pathways.
• Respond promptly to urgent clinical issues and coordinate specialty consultations as needed.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, nursing staff, consultants, ED teams, and the care team.
• Facilitate safe transitions of care with clear handoffs to the daytime team.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation of admissions, progress notes, and other records.
• Practice independently overnight while collaborating with the Hospital Medicine team to provide safe, high-quality care.
