Responsibilities
- The Overnight Grocery Clerk is responsible for stocking and replenishing shelves, including Health & Beauty Care, Dairy, Frozen Foods, and other areas. This involves using carts and pallet jacks to transport products from the backroom and cooler/freezer areas to the sales floor.
- Following customer satisfaction behaviors—being friendly, responsive, knowledgeable, and passionate.
- Rotating products as necessary and unloading trailer deliveries.
- Maintaining a clean, sanitary, and visually appealing grocery area.
- Interacting with customers and providing good customer service skills.
Organizational Relationships
- Reports to: Grocery Manager, Assistant Grocery Manager.
- Supervises: Full-time clerks may supervise, train, and develop part-time clerks.
Essential Job Functions
- Work courteously in a fast-paced environment, alone or with others overnight.
- Assist in increasing sales through retail selling steps: connect, qualify, present, close, and create customer loyalty.
- Record stocking activities and other duties on assignment sheets.
- Load/unload products weighing up to 60 lbs., pull pallets, and stock shelves.
- Open boxes, remove products, and replenish shelves, requiring repetitive motion and reaching.
- Work quickly and carefully, identify products visually, and read display signs.
Additional Responsibilities
- Handle cardboard disposal and making bales.
- Order and adjust products using handheld devices.
- Perform cleaning duties and handle verbal orders.
Work Schedule & Conditions
- Typically scheduled between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
- Work in cool, cold, or frozen environments, with physical tasks including lifting and carrying.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Good customer service skills; on-the-job training provided.
- Prior stocking experience and ability to work quickly and accurately are desirable.
