SUMMARY

This Overnight Front Desk Agent is responsible for greeting guests upon arrival to access their file on the computer, check guests into either hotel rooms or condominiums in a pleasant, positive way to ensure that their experience at Jay Peak is a positive one. This position answers phones, assists guests with resort amenities and assists/resolves guest issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
  • Welcomes guests on arrival and checks them in, accessing their reservation on the computer and advises the balance due for their stay, doing a credit card imprint or accepting cash.
  • Gives appropriate key to guests for the assigned room/condo.
  • Using an area map, indicates the location of the unit that the guest is checking into and explains how to get to room/unit.
  • Issues ski tickets during winter season to persons with packages that include skiing/riding.
  • Issues water park vouchers for one-night stay, water park wrist bands for multiple nights with packages that include Pump House.
  • Issues golf vouchers during the summer to persons with packages that include golf.
  • Orients the guest, explaining where the different service areas are located, such as Customer Service, Rental and Repair, Ski School, Pump House, Clips & Reels, Tram, Cafeterias or Restaurants.
  • When required, explain how to get to retail outlets in the area, hospital, points of interest, event locations, etc.
  • Makes dining room reservations when required.
  • Prepares arrival packets to include necessary vouchers, amenity tickets, etc. based on package sold.
  • Must be well groomed and professional in appearance, wearing uniform items provided.
  • Troubleshoots problems that may arise for the guest and if necessary, consults with supervisor to resolve more difficult issues.
  • Works closely with security persons to assist guests who may have road, car or location of unit problems, that security can assist with.
  • Must be helpful and amiable toward the guest at all times. When difficulties arise you should consult a supervisor/manager for advice on how to handle.
  • On occasion will need to fill in on completing the night audit.
  • Other duties as assigned, which could be directly related or unrelated to original position.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software. Point of Sale and Property Management software experience preferred.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Proper phone etiquette skills. Leadership skills. Understand the booking cycle and how to interpret it to create our best possible rate structure.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to work evenings, nights, holidays and weekends is required.

RESORT CONDITIONS

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multilevel buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
