Job summary

Jay Peak is seeking a seasonal guest services associate to warmly greet guests, check them in, and manage reservations at Jay Peak in Vermont. You will provide information on resort events, assist with resort amenities, and resolve guest inquiries to ensure a positive guest experience.

The role requires strong phone etiquette, leadership qualities, and the ability to navigate the booking cycle. Weekend and evening availability is expected, with opportunities for growth in a welcoming resort

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; relevant experience may substitute.
  • Ability to read and interpret reservation documents and policies.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests on arrival and check them in, accessing reservations and explaining charges.
  • Inform guests about events and resort amenities during stay.
  • Issue keys, tickets and vouchers for activities and services.
  • Answer phones and assist guests with resort services and directions.
  • Troubleshoot guest issues and escalate to supervisor when needed.

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for greeting guests upon arrival to access their file on the computer, check guests into either hotel rooms or condominiums in a pleasant, positive way to ensure that their experience at JayPeak is a positive one. Answer phones, assist guests with resort amenities and assist/resolve guest issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
  • Welcomes guests on arrival and check them in, accessing their reservation on the computer and advises the balance due for their stay, doing a credit card imprint or accepting US cash or CAD certified check.
  • Inform guests about any events or activities happening during their stay.
  • Gives appropriate key to guests for the assigned room/condo. Is also able to issue gym and outdoor pool keys when applicable.
  • Using an area map indicates the location of the unit that the guest is checking into and explains how to get to room/unit.
  • Issues ski tickets during winter season to people with packages that include skiing/riding.
  • Issues water park vouchers for one-night stay, water park wrist bands for multiple nights with packages that include Pump House.
  • Issues golf vouchers during the summer to people with packages that include golf.
  • Orients the guest, explaining where the different service areas are located, such as Customer Service, Rental and Repair, Ski School, Pump House, Clips & Reels, Tram, Cafeterias or Restaurants.
  • When required, explain how to get to retail outlets in the area, hospital, points of interest, event locations, etc.
  • Must be well groomed and professional in appearance, wearing uniform items provided.
  • Troubleshoots problems that may arise for the guest and if necessary, consults with supervisor to resolve more difficult issues.
  • Works closely with security to assist guests who may have road, car or location of unit problems, that security can assist with.
  • Must always be helpful and amiable toward the guest. When difficulties arise, you will assist the guest in finding a helpful solution.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager, which could be directly related or unrelated to original position
  • Must be able to assign, reset, and teach guests how to find and set their locker code.
  • Stores luggage and other items needed for guests in the correct locked storage areas.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has not supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software. Point of Sale and Property Management software experience preferred.

Ability to work evenings, nights, holidays and weekends is required.

RESORT CONDITIONS

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multilevel buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
