Overnight Floor Technician

Job summary

UG2 is seeking a Floor Technician to maintain and sanitize floors across our DMU campus and facilities. You will perform sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping and refinishing floors, and operate cleaning equipment while keeping logs and inventory.

The role requires attention to safety, adherence to procedures, and the ability to train new staff. A high school diploma and custodial experience are preferred, with proficiency in MS Office benefiting daily reporting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Custodial or related experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.
• Experience stripping and finishing floors including Terrazzo and VCT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform floor care and cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing throughout the DMU campus and facilities.
• Stripping & refinishing floors.
• Extract carpets.
• Remove and transport waste to proper disposal areas.
• Keep accurate information on floor care logs and checklists.
• Able to keep inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Aid in the on-the-job training of new staff.
• Ability to Run, walk-behind scrubbers, walk-behind extractors, and swing buffers.
• Able to steam clean upholstery
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Report any notable damages and concerns.
• Adhere to workplace safety standards.
• Use of PPE is required in accordance with the job task.

The Floor Technician will maintain, clean, and sanitize all floors, ensuring they are visually appealing and meet UG2 standards. Working as a Floor Technician will mean you’re responsible for keeping high standards of cleanliness and safety as well as operating cleaning equipment and organizing and maintaining supplies and equipment.
