Job summary

Cable Services Company, Inc. is seeking a Fiber Splicer to perform cable splicing in aerial, underground, indoor and outdoor settings. The role requires frequent travel, overnight work during off-peak hours, and weekend on-call for emergency restoration.

You will install and maintain fiber, read maps, and operate related equipment across multiple sites. Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of fiber splicing experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to lift up to 80 pounds.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience splicing all types of fiber optic cables.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience working in a bucket truck at heights in excess of 30-40 ft.
• Proficiency using fusion splicers, OTDR, optical power meters, fiber identifiers and related tools.
• Ability to distinguish colors.
• Experience reading design maps, fiber schematics and basic electronic designs.
• Must be organized and detail oriented.
• Must be able to move materials/equipment weighing up to 80 pounds.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic system.
• Prep and hang fiber optic enclosures, nodes and related equipment.
• Route, splice and terminate fiber in equipment racks at central offices, hub sites or inside buildings.
• Work with OSP Project Managers to perform fusion splicing as directed.
• Read design maps, fiber schematics and basic electronic designs.
• Operate aerial lift and related equipment.
• Be on-call for emergency restoration.
• Communicate workload status to management.
• Perform routine construction tasks and handle tools and materials safely.
• Complete all required company documentation (timesheets, truck reports, expense reports).
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment.
