Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician for overnight shifts. You will join a collaborative emergency team providing high-quality care, anesthesia support, and in-house lab work for diverse cases.

The ideal candidate brings prior veterinary experience, comfort with critical care, and strong communication skills to support clients and the care team in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required; previous emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, dosages, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
