Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Northeast Portland, OR is hiring an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. The schedule includes nights and every other Saturday, with competitive shift differentials for weekday and weekend nights.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician you will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform radiography, monitor vitals and support veterinarians with critical care throughout shifts.

Qualifications

• CVT with experience in emergency/critical care settings.
• Ability to induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Strong patient care and comfort-oriented skills for critically ill or injured pets.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vital signs.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosing and administer medications.
• Phlebotomy and placement of IV catheters.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central lines.
• Mentor and train co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
