BluePearl Pet Hospital in Christiana, DE seeks an experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. The role involves anesthesia induction, monitoring, triage of emergencies, digital radiography, and providing compassionate care to critically ill or injured patients.

We offer sign-on up to $5,000 for qualified LVT/CVT/RVT/LVMT or VTS candidates, with competitive shift differentials and a supportive mentorship culture to grow within Mars Veterinary

Qualifications

• Experience in overnight emergency veterinary care.
• LVT/CVT/RVT/LVMT or VTS credentials preferred or equivalent.
• Ability to triage and manage critically ill patients.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Triage emergencies and monitor vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.
• Interpret vital signs and alert veterinarians to changes.
• CPR when needed and manage arrest risk.
• Administer medications and manage IV access.
• Place feeding tubes and central lines as needed.
• Mentor and train other staff.
• Address client concerns with empathy.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Christiana, DE is hiring an experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Sign-on bonus up to $5,000 for qualified LVT, CVT, RVT, LVMT, or VTS!

Pay:

$21.00 - $43.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through leveling system

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential

As an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
