Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Christiana, DE is seeking an experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. You will provide anesthesia, monitoring and rapid response to emergencies while delivering compassionate care to critically ill pets.

We offer a sign‑on bonus up to $5,000 for qualified candidates, a competitive $21.00–$43.00 per hour pay scale with appropriate shift differentials, and growth opportunities through our veterinary health networks.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia using monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergencies on arrival and record vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with correct technique and positioning.
• Monitor vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Initiate CPR for at-risk patients.

Sign‑on bonus up to $5,000 for qualified LVT, CVT, RVT, LVMT, or VTS!

Pay

$21.00 - $43.00 / hour. This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through leveling system. Competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co‑workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
