Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Malvern, PA is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Overnight Veterinary Assistant to join their fast-paced emergency department.

Pay: $19.30 - $28.70 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through our leveling system.

We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible night and weekend hours, for example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases, assist DVMs with crafting and reviewing estimates, perform diagnostics (radiographs, lab work, etc.), set patients in ICU or inpatient wards, discharge patients, and handle client communication.

As an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of common medications, side effects, and monitor therapeutic responses.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Conduct physical exams, including heart rate, pulse, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature, and respiratory effort.
• Possess knowledge of anesthesia and monitoring equipment, assisting with ASA I or II classified patients.
• Stay current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency as assigned.
