Job summary

Brightway Living & Learning seeks an Overnight Direct Support Professional to support adults with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Shifts are overnight (Thu, Fri 9p-7a; Sat 9p-9a), totaling about 32 hours weekly, in Plainview, NY. A valid NYS Driver's License and completion of the transportation orientation are required.

Training, teamwork, and compassionate care are essential. You will help residents with daily living, promote independence, document activities, and respond

Qualifications

• Valid NYS Driver's License for 18+ months with a clean driving history and completion of Brightway Transportation Orientation.
• Complete required training in a timely fashion.
• Demonstrate knowledge of abuse reporting and procedures.
• Participate in staff meetings and inservices as required.
• Remain on premises and respond to house needs; be prepared to transition to awake coverage during overnight shifts according to protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized personal care, meals, transportation, and community outings to individuals with disabilities.
• Foster independence and life skills development, promoting social inclusion in the community.
• Serve as a positive role model with empathy and patience and collaborate with DSPs, supervisors, and families.
• Complete overnight responsibilities per individualized protocols, advocate for individuals’ needs, and document as required (logs, incident reports, sheets).
• Relate to emergency procedures, fire evacuation, and incident reporting as needed.
