Job summary

The Block Institute in New York is seeking an Overnight Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with daily living activities and promote independence. You will work 11:00 pm - 9:00 am, provide compassionate care, and collaborate with a supportive team.

Responsibilities include meal support, hygiene, medication assistance, documenting services, and accompanying residents to appointments. A New York driver’s license is required and a High School diploma or GED is needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• New York State Driver's License is required.
• Willingness to complete and maintain required certifications (AMAP, CPR/First Aid, SCIP-R).
• Attendance at scheduled trainings is mandatory.
• Strong communication skills, reliability and a compassionate attitude are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support with activities of daily living (meals, dressing, hygiene, personal care).
• Teach and reinforce essential life skills such as cooking, shopping, and household tasks.
• Administer medications and assist with health routines (training provided).
• Accompany individuals to medical appointments and community outings.
• Encourage social engagement, independence, and participation in meaningful activities.
• Accurately document services and communicate with the interdisciplinary team.
• Respond to challenges with patience, respect, and sensitivity.
