Job summary

The Department for Persons With Disabilities (DPD) seeks a part-time Direct Support Professional/Overnight Residential Counselor to assist residents in group homes in North Carolina. You will support personal care, medication administration, and daily living activities, while ensuring safety and dignity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.
• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of residents.

Responsibilities

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
• Participate and/or supervise cleaning, cooking and life skills activities.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and residents.
• Drive residents to and from day programs and other community activities using agency vehicles.
• Document services provided on a daily basis.
• Assist with community-based activities.
