Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group is seeking an Overnight Peer Support Specialist for a part-time/on-call role in San Bernardino, CA. The position emphasizes outreach, engagement, and direct services to diverse clients, leveraging lived experience to promote recovery.

The role requires California certification, a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and experience in consumer-directed services. Salary is $25.00–$28.00 per hour with employer-paid benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Active California Peer Support Specialist Certification.
• Personal lived experience as a consumer within the child welfare, probation, or mental health systems.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, etc.). Must be 18 years or older. Meet agency driver eligibility criteria.
• One year of full-time experience performing non-professional, consumer-directed services.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach, engagement, support, advocacy, and direct services to program clients.
• Use lived experience as a role model, companion, educator and advocate for clients.
• Support clients in moving toward recovery and creating a meaningful role in life.

Job Title: Overnight Peer Support Specialist - Part Time / On-Call

Division/Program: San Bernardino: Valley CMRT

Starting Compensation: 25.00 - 28.00 USD Per Hour

Working Location: San Bernardino, CA

Working Hours/Shift: 10 Hour Overnight Shift: 6:00 PM - 5:00 AM or 9:00 PM - 8:00 AM (depending on the program’s needs)

What You Bring to SBHG (Qualifications)

• Education: Certification: Active California Peer Support Specialist Certification.
• Lived Experience: Personal, lived experience as a consumer within the child welfare, probation, or mental health systems.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, etc.). Must be 18 years of age or older. Meet agency driver eligibility criteria
• Experience & Skills: One (1) year of full-time experience performing non-professional, consumer-directed services.
• Experience working within a mental health, healthcare, or social services agency serving individuals with disabilities is preferred.
• Compliance & Safety: Valid California Driver’s License with an eligible driving record per company policy. First Aid certification from persons qualified by agencies including but not limited to the American Red Cross.

The position has primary responsibility for using their lived experience and knowledge of the system to provide outreach and engagement, support, advocacy, and direct services to program clients of all age ranges. Peer Support Specialists are people who have lived experience in the mental health, judicial, and/or social service systems in some capacity. They serve as role models, companions, educators and advocates to our clients. The Peer Support Specialist will support clients in moving toward recovery, creating a meaningful role in their life, which is separate from their illness.

Program: The Valley Star Crisis Mobile Response Team

Population Served: Serving all age groups—children, adolescents, adults, and older adults

Facility & Setting: Mobile | operates from 6 PM to 8 AM

Clinical Services: offering rapid mental health assessments and crisis interventions. essential services for individuals needing immediate crisis intervention and stabilization.
