Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group is seeking a Peer Support Counselor for the Desert Hill Crisis Residential Treatment program in Victorville, CA. You will use your lived experience to engage clients, provide outreach, support, and advocacy, and connect individuals with recovery resources.

This evening/Friday-Tuesday shift offers competitive hourly pay, generous time off, and a benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, etc.).
• One year of full-time experience performing non-professional, consumer-directed services.
• Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification preferred or able to complete within one year.
• Valid California Driver’s License with an eligible driving record.
• First Aid certification from an approved provider or obtained upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach, engagement, and direct services to program clients.
• Serve as role models, educators, and advocates for clients.
• Support clients toward recovery and meaningful life roles.
• Utilize lived experience to connect with clients across age ranges.
• Coordinate with CRT staff to ensure coordinated care.

Peer Support Counselors are people who have lived experience in the mental health, judicial, and/or social service systems in some capacity. They serve as role models, companions, educators and advocates to our clients.
