Job summary

McKenney Home Care is seeking dependable Caregivers, HHAs, and CNAs for private-duty overnight opportunities in clients’ homes throughout Sarasota and Charlotte County. Shifts are typically 12 hours from 8:00 PM–8:00 AM, awake and focused on one client at a time.

Venice area office coordinates assignments in a small-family owned agency. Onboarding requires valid credentials, good communication, and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work overnight shifts in private homes.
• CPR certification required; online CPR not accepted.
• Florida CNA licensure or HHA certification encouraged but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Remain awake, alert, and attentive during the entire 12-hour overnight shift.
• Assist with toileting, personal care, mobility, and daily living activities.
• Provide fall prevention and night-time safety support.
• Offer reassurance, companionship, and gentle redirection as needed.
• Assist with repositioning and night routines per care plan.
• Prepare light meals or snacks and encourage hydration.
• Provide medication reminders as permitted by the care plan.
• Observe changes in condition and report to the office.
• Complete required documentation using the WellSky app.
• Follow individualized care plans and communicate concerns to the office.

Looking for overnight caregiving work where you can focus on one client at a time? McKenney Home Care is seeking dependable Caregivers, HHAs, and CNAs for private-duty overnight opportunities in clients’ homes throughout Sarasota and Charlotte County.

McKenney Home Care is a family-owned private-duty home care agency providing individualized one-on-one care through our Venice office.

About the Overnight Schedule

Overnight assignments are typically 12-hour shifts from approximately 8:00 PM–8:00 AM.

These are awake overnight shifts. Caregivers are required to remain awake, alert, and available to the client throughout the entire 12-hour shift.

For client and caregiver safety, overnight caregivers must be able to arrive rested and may not work another job or daytime shift on days they are scheduled to work an awake overnight assignment.

Opportunities may include:

• Weeknight overnight shifts
• Weekend overnight shifts
• Recurring overnight assignments
• Consistent assignments when available

Schedules vary based on current client needs, caregiver availability, experience, and location. Hours cannot be guaranteed.

What You’ll Do

• Remain awake, alert, and attentive throughout the full overnight shift
• Assist with toileting, personal care, mobility, and other activities of daily living

What You’ll Need to Complete Onboarding

• Ability and willingness to remain awake for the entire 12-hour overnight shift
• Ability to maintain a schedule that allows you to arrive rested and alert; caregivers working another daytime job on scheduled overnight days cannot be assigned to these shifts
• Strong communication, observation, and reliability
• Comfort working independently in a private home setting
• Valid driver’s license
• Current auto insurance with you listed as an allowed driver
• Reliable transportation
• Hands-on CPR certification - online-only CPR is not accepted
• TB screening within the required timeframe or qualifying chest X-ray
• Level 2 AHCA background screening: https://info.flclearinghouse.com
• Dependable attendance and professional conduct

HHA certification, Florida CNA licensure, or previous professional caregiving experience is welcomed but not required for every opportunity.
