Job summary

Oerlikon is seeking a Canner/Packager for our Troy, MI facility. You will set up and operate the canning/packaging line, package material and finished products, and strive to meet safety, quality and production targets on a 12-hour overnight shift.

Responsibilities include line setup, cleaning between alloys, shipping handoff, and supporting continuous improvement. Candidates should be able to lift, bend, stand for long periods, and operate cranes and powered vehicles.

Qualifications

• Basic math and organizational skills are required.
• Basic mechanical knowledge is required.
• Must be able to perform physical tasks (lifting, bending, standing).
• Ability to safely operate cranes and powered industrial vehicles.
• Willingness to work 12-hour overnight shifts (6p–6:30a) on a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities

• Set up packaging line and install packaging equipment, and place labeled, color-coded hoppers.
• Clean packaging equipment between alloys to remove residual powder.
• Deliver packaged product to shipping.
• Meet or exceed safety, environmental, and health goals for the department.
• Meet or exceed quality and productivity targets.
• Contribute to continual improvement activities and notify supervisor of issues.
• Assist in other departments as needed.
