Overview

Sumter Utilities, Inc. (a Quanta Services company) is seeking entire Overhead Crews (Foreman, A Lineman, B Lineman, C Lineman, Operator, Groundman).

Successful candidates will have existing experience working together as a construction crew. Preference may be given to candidates who can bring additional qualified candidates to form complete work crews.

Responsibilities

All Classifications:

• Able and willing to travel long distances on short notice and work in various locations.
• Able and willing to work overtime when required.
• Committed to safety and compliance.

Foreman:

• Supervise & guide Linemen, Apprentices, and Groundmen on electrical distribution projects.
• Coordinate personnel and crew mobilization on-site.
• Enforce safety requirements and best practices.
• Manage supplies, materials, and equipment.
• Read and interpret site plans and construction drawings.
• Communicate effectively with project personnel.
• Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with utility equipment and working at heights is preferred.

A Lineman:

• Perform physical labor, including climbing, rigging, and rescue operations.
• Identify circuit voltages and read blueprints.
• Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, and perform pole/tower climbing.
• Work safely at heights and in confined spaces.

B Lineman:

• Work safely on energized and de-energized conductors.
• Set poles and anchors, maintain equipment, and perform line work.

C Lineman:

• Maintain enrollment in the SUI apprenticeship program.
• Perform similar duties as B Lineman with emphasis on training and development.

Equipment Operator:

• Operate heavy equipment safely.
• Assist with line stringing and pole setting.

Groundman:

• Assist in construction and maintenance tasks.
• Perform manual labor and support crew operations.

Qualifications

Physical requirements include sitting, climbing, balancing, and lifting up to 75 pounds. Work is outdoors, exposing employees to weather, animals, insects, and other hazards.
