Job summary

Kloeckner Metals - Americas is seeking a Crane Operator/Loader in New Orleans. The individual will be responsible for safely operating overhead cranes and forklifts, as well as handling materials for shipping and receiving.

Job Summary

The Crane Operator/Loader is responsible for handling materials as related to the shipping and receiving of inventory and customer orders. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

• 2nd Shift Hours: 4:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m., with availability to work overtime as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Crane and Forklift Operation: Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts
• Product Knowledge: Understand the products handled, including color coding and customer specifications; read and interpret all measuring devices
• Shipping and Receiving: Unload and receive inbound stock shipments and load outbound shipments, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed
• Loading Procedures: Safely load trucks, including proper chaining and tarping of trailers
• Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support warehouse operations

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience operating overhead cranes in an industrial or distribution environment
• Certification: Valid certification to operate overhead cranes is requiredEducation: High School diploma or GED; or 1-3 months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Regulations Knowledge: Understanding of DOT regulations regarding load weight
• Safety and Procedures: Ability to follow safety protocols and operational procedures
