Job summary

The State of Iowa is seeking an Epidemiologist to support overdose prevention and response strategies on the OD2A-S surveillance team. You will transform data into actionable insights that inform public health actions across the state.

Qualifications

• 6 months of epidemiology experience or coursework.
• Experience with surveillance data collection and analysis.
• Familiarity with epidemiologic methods and data interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Explore overdose trends and identify emerging risks across Iowa.
• Analyze overdose data using SAS and epidemiologic methods.
• Support surveillance projects including ROOD initiative and SUDORS reporting.
• Produce dashboards, fact sheets, briefs, and visualizations.
• Present data clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with OD2A-S team, contractors, and state partners.
• Participate in CDC grantee meetings and Iowa OD2A workgroups.
• Ensure data quality standards and epidemiologic reviews.
