Job summary

State of Iowa is seeking an Epidemiologist to support overdose prevention and surveillance for the OD2A-S team. The role focuses on analyzing mortality and morbidity data, developing dashboards, and translating complex findings for action statewide.

The ideal candidate has a public health graduate degree with epidemiology coursework or an equivalent combination, plus experience in applied epidemiology and data reporting.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in public health with at least two courses related to epidemiology.
• Or a non-public health graduate degree with two epidemiology courses and three years of applied epidemiology experience.
• Ability to analyze data and communicate findings effectively.

Responsibilities

• Analyze overdose trends and emerging risks using SAS and advanced epidemiologic methods.
• Develop dashboards, fact sheets, briefs, and visualizations for public health action.
• Provide technical support to SUDORS abstractors and DOSE reporting sites.
• Collaborate with OD2A-S team, contractors, and statewide partners; present data clearly.
