Job summary

Estes Express is seeking Line Haul Extraboard Drivers to move freight between Estes Service Centers. Employees travel away from home for ~5 days, with company-supported lodging, uniforms, and cell phone reimbursement.

Roles involve operating tractor-trailers, following FMCSA rules, and maintaining logs and safety checks. Drivers adhere to safety standards, pass pre-employment screening, and may use in-cab technology.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent background.
• 21 years of age per FMCSA regulations (1 year driving experience).
• Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Must be registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Must reside within 75 miles of the domiciled Service Center/work assignment.
• HazMat, Tanker and Doubles endorsements required.
• Must be able to drive tractor trailer per FMCSA requirements.
• Stable employment history preferred.
• Physical activities include standing, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, etc.
• Must provide an acceptable MVR.
• Must be familiar with state motor vehicle laws and FMCSA rules.
• Must pass a FMCSA medical exam.
• Must pass a road test.
• Ability to meet FMCSA requirements to speak/read English.
• Must lift approximately 70 lbs.
• Must drive all routes and in all terrains.
• Must drive in a wide range of environmental conditions.
• Operate safety and operational functions of equipment.
• Comply with company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct.
• Interact well with others.
• Work independently or in a team.
• Capable of working under tight deadlines with multiple priorities.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background checks.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Operate all types of equipment to perform safety functions.
• Safely operate a tractor/trailer in transporting freight per laws and FMCSA regulations.
• Adhere to FMCSA requirements for CDL holders.
• Maintain records in compliance with regulations.
• Comply with hazardous materials transportation requirements.
• Ensure security of equipment and cargo.
• Conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspections for safety.
• Check gauges and seals; inspect vehicle throughout trips.
• Report maintenance issues to Fleet Services or supervision.
• May use in-cab technology (ELD) and other items.
• May drive different schedules and work the dock based on business needs.
• Provide professional and courteous service to customers and the public.
• Regular attendance is required.
