Job summary

Bühler Group is seeking a Buyer to ensure material availability and support project requirements in our manufacturing environment in North Carolina. You will be accountable for component cost, quality, and delivery while supporting engineering, design and manufacturing teams.

Job description

The Buyer will support the organization by ensuring the ongoing availability of material and components to meet project requirements. The Buyer is accountable for component cost, quality, and delivery requirements supporting the needs of the engineering, design, and manufacturing environment.

Experience in a manufacturing environment with the ability to read drawings and specifications for machining, fabrication, and assembly.

Responsibilities

• Manage commodities and competitive sources of supply
• Plan, prioritize, and manage multiple work assignments using strong organizational skills
• Negotiate with suppliers on cost, quality, and lead-time to obtain maximum value for the company
• Develop, implement, and drive procurement strategies to meet cost savings targets
• Perform regular performance reviews with key suppliers to drive continuous improvements
• Ensure commercial, legal, and contractual compliance in all procurement transactions
• Understand requirements for items to be purchased
• Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
• Prepare and submit purchase orders
• Track all orders to ensure timely and accurate delivery
• Contact vendors with discrepancies on quantity and quality to resolve issues
• Interface with all departments to resolve issues with purchased items
• Manage inventory
• Generate monthly forecasts to ensure long lead‑time material is available when needed
• Reconcile billing summaries from main vendors/suppliers
• Support and provide back‑up and assistance to other buyers as needed
• Monitor suppliers’ quality, cost, and delivery performance on a regular basis
• In the event of major disruption, direct necessary actions with the supplier in collaboration with project managers or design team to reduce impact
• Evaluate the status of all purchased components/materials for active projects to prioritize and communicate issues with project teams, other buyers, and managers

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience in Machining or Fabrication
• Ability to read and interpret component part drawings and specifications
• Bachelor's degree is preferred
• Experience in an SAP or ERP environment is a plus
• High level of intellectual curiosity, self‑motivation, ownership, sense of urgency and positive engagement
• Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (basic skills in Excel and Word)
