Job summary

Peyton Resource Group is seeking a seasoned Buyer to lead procurement of materials, equipment, and services in support of industrial operations in California. This role partners with operations, maintenance, and engineering to evaluate goods, manage P2P processes, and ensure cost-effective, compliant sourcing.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years’ buyer experience, a degree in business or supply chain, and strong negotiation skills with suppliers in mining and petrochemical sectors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, logistics, or supply chain.
  • 3+ years of Buyer experience.
  • Procurement processes and P2P fundamentals.
  • Experience with SAP and procurement data analysis.
  • Strong supplier negotiation and relationship skills.
  • Experience at industrial, mining, or petrochemical facilities preferred.

Job description

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and services; assists operations, maintenance, and engineering departments in the evaluation of goods and services as needed; ensures that internal customer’s expectations and requirements are met; and debottlenecks supply chain in support of the business.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant Buyer experience.
  • Procurement expertise with a foundation in Procure-to-Pay (P2P) principles and processes is fundamental.
  • Experience with SAP and procurement processes for efficient procurement, inventory management, and data analysis is preferred.
  • Experience in analyzing procurement costs, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and implementing cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or compliance.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and the use of procurement software and tools to make data-driven decisions, manage P2P cycle, and track key performance indicators.
  • Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with rare earth material suppliers, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and strategic collaboration.
  • Proficiency in identifying and mitigating supply chain risks, including disruptions related to transportation, geopolitical events, or natural disasters.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and conditions in supplier contracts, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards.
  • Ability to manage procurement projects, such as supplier evaluations, sourcing initiatives, and cost-reduction projects, from initiation to completion.
  • Experience at an industrial, mining, or petrochemical processing facility is highly preferred.
