Outside Sales Representative – Insulation & Contractor Sales
iFOAM of Greater Northwest Columbus is seeking a motivated Outside Sales Representative who can generate new business, build lasting customer relationships, and close profitable projects.
iFOAM of Greater Northwest Columbus | Central Ohio
We are a locally owned insulation company serving residential and commercial customers throughout Central Ohio. Our services include spray foam, fiberglass and mineral wool batts, blown-in insulation, and air sealing for new construction and existing buildings.
Can you open doors, earn a contractor’s trust, and turn an estimate into a signed project?
This role is ideal for a salesperson who enjoys working with builders, remodelers, general contractors, property owners, and homeowners—and takes ownership of results from the first conversation through the signed agreement.
The Opportunity
You will grow a territory by developing your own opportunities, following up on company-generated leads, and building a network of repeat customers and referral partners.
Success requires consistent prospecting, thoughtful recommendations, accurate proposals, and disciplined follow-through. You will work closely with our operations team to ensure that what we sell is clearly defined and ready for installation.
What You Will Do
Develop new business
- Identify and pursue opportunities with homebuilders, general contractors, remodelers, roofing companies, property managers, and residential and commercial owners.
- Generate leads through direct outreach, jobsite visits, networking, referrals, and industry relationships.
- Build relationships that lead to bid invitations, repeat projects, and referrals.
- Qualify opportunities based on project scope, timing, decision-makers, and customer needs.
Manage the sale from discovery to close
- Meet with customers and visit project sites to understand their needs.
- Review plans, gather measurements and project information, and coordinate technical questions with the appropriate team members.
- Prepare clear, accurate estimates and proposals within company pricing guidelines.
- Explain insulation options and help customers understand the value of the recommended scope.
- Follow up consistently, address objections, and ask for the sale.
- Protect project profitability by selling clearly defined work and obtaining approval for pricing exceptions.
Maintain a disciplined sales process
- Take ownership of agreed sales, prospecting, and profitability goals.
- Keep customer records, opportunities, next steps, and follow-up dates current in the CRM.
- Maintain an active pipeline and provide realistic sales forecasts.
- Track results and adjust your approach when activity is not producing opportunities or closed business.
- Stay informed about local construction activity, competitors, and customer needs.
Support a successful customer experience
- Provide complete handoffs to operations, including the agreed scope, customer expectations, site conditions, and scheduling requirements.
- Coordinate with the installation team when questions or scope changes arise.
- Communicate promptly and professionally with customers and coworkers.
- Follow up after installation to strengthen relationships and identify future opportunities.
What Success Looks Like
- A steady flow of qualified, self-generated opportunities.
- New contractor relationships that produce repeat business.
- Timely proposals and consistent follow-up.
- Sales that meet revenue and profitability expectations.
- Accurate project information and organized handoffs to operations.
- Customers who trust you and recommend our company.
Required Qualifications
- At least two years of outside sales experience with demonstrated success generating new business and closing sales.
- Experience prospecting beyond assigned or inbound leads.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to organize a territory, manage appointments, and follow through without daily reminders.
- Comfort discussing pricing, handling objections, and asking for a commitment.
- Ability to use CRM software, email, and basic estimating tools.
- Willingness to learn insulation products, installation methods, and construction terminology.
- Ability to travel throughout Central Ohio for customer meetings, site visits, and networking.
Preferred Qualifications
- Sales experience in insulation, roofing, HVAC, windows, building materials, remodeling, or another construction-related service.
