Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking an Outside Sales Rep to drive sales of decking and outdoor living products. You will build relationships with builders and subcontractors, present product features, and generate estimates for projects in residential and commercial settings.

You will manage accounts, visit sites as needed, and coordinate orders to ensure on-time delivery while expanding market share in our decking category.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of decking product sales experience (wood, composite, PVC) and knowledge of outdoor living products.
• Ability to cold call and grow existing customer relationships.
• Ability to read blueprints and perform take-offs; knowledge of local building codes.
• Proven track record of increasing sales and profitability.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong decision making and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

• Attain and maintain sales of outdoor living products, focused on decking.

Outside Sales Reps areresponsible for finding and completing sales of our full line of building materials and installed services with builders and subcontractors both residentially and commercially.Yes, you will “sell projects,” but once a job is sold, you need to manage that jobandthat relationship. You’ll keep up to date information on your customers’ product use and trends, visit job sites as needed, maintain schedules, and put out fires. A Carter Outside Sales Decking Specialist is responsible for presenting and selling all product lines with a focus on decking products, as well as establishing and growing relationships with customers in our market.

Requirements

• A Minimum of 2 years previous knowledge and experience selling Decking products including wood, composite, pvc, a variety of railings and other outdoor living products. Experience in other building materials helpful.
• Ability to cold call future customers and to grow relationships with existing customers
• Ability to read blueprints and do take-offs with knowledge of local building codes
• Demonstrated ability to increase sales and improve profitability
• Excellent communication skills, with a strong sense of customer service
• Decision making abilities and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Reliable transportation and valid drivers license
