Job description

Job Summary:

The Account Manager is responsible for driving sales at assigned accounts, nurturing, and growing Applied Business within these accounts.

Physical Effort & Travel:

A valid driver’s license is required. Travel to customer sites is expected approximately 10 times per week. A car allowance is provided.

Working Environment:

Due to the diverse customer base, there may be potential exposure to adverse working conditions (e.g., occasional exposure to heat, dust, fumes), typically limited to the time required to collect information or walk the plant floor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Achieve sales targets at assigned customer accounts to meet or exceed profit goals.
  2. Attend required technical training sessions.
  3. Perform quarterly gap analysis on accounts to expand product offerings.
  4. View monthly Siemens Automation update webinars (on DRC).
  5. Utilize product specialists for presales support; travel with specialists at least once a week.
  6. Leverage vendor relationships, including traveling with vendor salespeople at least once a month.
  7. Negotiate pricing agreements with vendors as needed.
  8. Promote solutions group sales.
  9. Collaborate with inside sales to reach out to “B and C” customers.
  10. Make marketing and event recommendations within the territory.
  11. Promote training sessions and events to customers.
  12. Be aware of territorial restrictions.
  13. Understand competitors’ products and tactics.
  14. Utilize the Sandler selling process and attend monthly training sessions.
  15. Follow up on leads within 24 hours in assigned accounts and territory.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  1. Strong knowledge and practice of basic selling skills.
  2. Understanding of automation products and their applications.
  3. Proficiency in PC skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  4. Knowledge of TDF (CRM) and ability to update activities.
  5. Ability to present technical products effectively to customers.
  6. Ability to understand automation applications and utilize internal and external resources to provide solutions using Applied’s products.
