Job summary

ALLO is seeking an OSP Technician to safely build, splice and maintain a fiber network in local communities. You will install, locate, and document fiber installations, operate specialized equipment, and perform field tests while maintaining accurate records.

The role requires the ability to work outdoors, lift up to 50 lbs, and travel as needed. We value dependable teamwork and a strong commitment to customer service.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1 year telecommunication experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install and locate string line in underground conduit systems.
  • Operate motorized and hydraulic equipment for pulling fiber through conduits.
  • Excavate and restore soil/landscaping after installations.
  • Splice fiber and document changes; update splice records.
  • Maintain vehicle logs and perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Work overtime during emergencies and after-hours restorations.

ALLO OSP Techs will work closely with Leadership and Subject Matter Experts in their assigned content areas to stay current with procedures and processes.RESPONSIBILITIES:Install/blow locate string line in underground conduit systemsUse motorized equipment to pull fiber cable/MSTs through underground conduit systemsExcavate with shovelsRestore disturbed soil/ grass/landscapingVerify accuracy and document any discrepancies or fiber changes relating to the installation of string, multi-service terminals (MSTs) or cablePrepare all field reports relating to work accomplished accurately and timelyOperate and maintain company owned vehicles, complete driver logs and vehicle documentsOperate hydraulic aerial lifts (buckets) and climb laddersSplice up to 144F in either 17” or 22” casesSplice butt or mid-sheath to ribbon or MSTs (up to 12)Splice drop termination closure (DTC) on pole or pedestal for MST repairTerminate to Clearfield Cassette/multi-dwelling unit (MDU) SplicingUpdate splice documentationUse SmartSheetsSet up of aerial and underground splice points to include taping, directional marking, grounding, cable management tray installation, hanging cases and securing in vaultUnderstand basic knowledge of aerial and underground cable and MST installationTest fiber in the fieldTroubleshoot with test equipment: power meter, VFL, traffic identifierPerform basic underground plant maintenanceCoordinate and oversee vehicle, trailer, and equipment maintenance as neededMaintain clean driving recordWork overtime as needed; may be required to work long hours during emergency situations including after-hours restorationsPerform other duties as assignedEDUCATION:High School Diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE:1 year telecommunication experience preferredSKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:Service ExcellenceOral communicationsWritten communicationsWork with SmartSheets and Excel spreadsheetsManage multiple prioritiesDecision makingCritical thinkingHigh energyEngaging demeanorREQUIREMENTS:Raise objects up to 50 lbsRemain upright on feet for extended periodsRemain stationary for extended periodsAbility to communicate informationAbility to crouch and crawlMove on foot up to 10 miles per dayAbility to bend, kneel, and standAbility to crawl in tight spacesAbility to ascend/descend a ladderAbility to carry tools and equipmentAbility to operate a computerAbility to observe details at far rangeAbility to operate hand tools and equipmentAbility to operate machineryAbility to work in outdoor weatherIdentify different colorsDOT Physical/CertificationPossess a valid driver's licenseTravel up to 50%People are our passion.
