Golden Belt Telephone (GBT) is seeking an Outside Plant Technician to join our Kansas team. This hands-on role blends telecommunications construction, maintenance, equipment operation, and customer service to keep customers connected.
You’ll operate plows and boring machines, locate underground utilities, and install or repair residential or business service drops. The work is outdoors and requires dependable, safety-conscious hands-on professionals ready to learn and grow.
Build it. Connect it. Fix it. Keep people connected.
At GBT, keeping people connected takes more than fiber and technology. It takes people who are willing to get outside, get their hands dirty, solve problems, and build something that matters.
We’re looking for an Outside Plant Technician / Construction Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on position that combines telecommunications construction, outside plant maintenance, equipment operation, and customer service.
You might spend one day operating a boring machine or cable plow, another locating underground utilities, and another helping install or repair services for a residential or business customer.
If you like variety, working with your hands, operating equipment, solving problems, and seeing the results of your work at the end of the day, this could be your kind of job.
You’ll help build, maintain, and repair the infrastructure that keeps our customers connected.
You don’t necessarily need to know everything about telecommunications on day one.
We’re looking for someone who is dependable, mechanically minded, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and comfortable working outdoors and with equipment.
Experience in any of the following can be valuable:
You should also be able to:
New to Telecom? That's OK.
If you have experience working with equipment, construction, utilities, agriculture, mechanics, or another hands-on trade, we want to hear from you.
We can teach you the telecom side of the job. What we can’t easily teach is a strong work ethic, dependability, willingness to learn, and the satisfaction of looking at something you built and thinking, “Yep, I did that.”
At GBT, you aren’t just digging holes or fixing equipment. You’re helping build and maintain the infrastructure that connects homes, businesses, and communities.
You’ll work with modern telecommunications technology while also getting to do what many people miss about work: being outside, working with your hands, operating equipment, solving real problems, and seeing tangible results.
And there’s plenty of opportunity to learn along the way.
GBT offers:
If you’re the person who would rather figure out how to fix it than walk past it, enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in doing a job right, and likes having a different challenge every day, we’d like to meet you.
Bring your construction experience. Bring your equipment skills. Bring your mechanical know-how. Or bring your willingness to learn.
There’s a place for all of it at GBT.
