Job summary

ADP, Inc. is seeking an Outside Plant Tech II in Lake Charles, LA to perform fiber splicing, testing, and installation of telecom equipment.

The role requires hands-on experience with fusion/mechanical splicers, OTDRs, and associated test gear, plus the ability to read plans and maintain accurate records. The ideal candidate has 2 years of fiber optic field splicing experience, OSHA certification for bucket trucks, and a proven track record of safe, precise work in OSP/ISP environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years fiber optic field splicing experience and test equipment.
• Experience with modern fiber splicing techniques; FOC or FiberOptic.com certification is a plus.
• Ability to read plans, drawings and diagrams; maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Preps, terminates, splices, bonds/grounds and tests fiber optic equipment to division standards OSP Aerial and Underground. Terminate inside plant FDP end points.
• Perform ring cuts, butt-splices, enter splice cases on live fiber without affecting existing services.
• Perform fiber tests with OTDRs, light source and meters.
• Provide accurate equipment location, splicing and terminating records for the fiber database and interpret engineering provided drawings.
• Monitor, communicate and perform corrective actions to fix problems affecting any fiber or fiber related equipment.
• Install/replace enclosures and other fiber related telecom equipment as required or instructed.
• Must have experience using and calibrating equipment: fusion splicer, mechanical splicer, OTDR, power meters, traffic identifiers, DMMs, cleavers, strippers, buffer tube splitters, cable ring tools, hand tools, toners, duct rodders, ladders, bucket trucks, etc.
• Must possess prior knowledge of OSP and ISP network design and infrastructure principles.
• Must interpret plans, drawings, diagrams, and correctly identify and record OSP as-built fiber routes; maintain records in software.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• · High school diploma, or equivalent
• · Candidate must be experienced in modern Fiber Splicing Techniques for the Telecommunications Industry, FOC or FIberOptic.com Certification a plus
• · 2 years Fiber optic field splicing experience and test equipment

• 2 years' experience and demonstrated OSHA certification for operating bucket truck capable of reaching 40'
• Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
