Job summary

Scientific Research Corporation is seeking an experienced Outside Plant Fiber Optic Technician to install, splice, test, and maintain fiber networks in aerial, underground and data center environments.

Candidates should have 6+ years of hands-on OSP experience, be able to lift 50 lbs, obtain or hold a BICSI certification, and be willing to travel 50–75% to CONUS/OCONUS sites; evening work may be required.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in outside plant fiber optic installation and maintenance.
• Possess or able to obtain a BICSI certification.
• Knowledge of fiber optic theory, including attenuation, dispersion, connector types, and fiber types (SM/MM).
• Able to splice Single and Ribbon fiber, splice on connectors.
• Experience in installation of Racks and cable ladder.
• Proficient in Visio creating rack diagrams and detailed Cable drawings.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move 50 lbs.
• Willing to work evenings when required.

Responsibilities

• Performing fiber optic cable installation, splicing, terminations, and testing in aerial, underground and Data Center environments.
• Operating, maintaining, and interpreting results from optical test equipment including OTDRs, light source/power meters, and fiber inspection scopes.
• Conducting site surveys, document field conditions, and providing input for design and engineering teams.
• Interpreting and working from engineering prints, schematics, and splice diagrams.
• Troubleshooting fiber optic systems and perform emergency restoration work when necessary.
• Maintaining detailed records of work performed, including test results and cable routing.
• Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and industry standards.
• Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other field personnel to ensure timely completion of work.
• Traveling between 50% to 75% to specific CONUS and OCONUS locations

We are seeking a highly skilled Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Optic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of hands‑on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance within outside plant environments. A strong understanding of fiber optic theory and in‑depth knowledge of fiber optic test and verification equipment is essential.

• Performing fiber optic cable installation, splicing, terminations, and testing in aerial, underground and Data Center environments
