Job Title: OSP Engineer I
Job Classification under FLSA: Nonexempt
Reports To: Director of OSP Engineering
Job Summary and Objectives
Assists and prepares drawings for construction of new, and removal or rearrangement of existing, overhead or underground lines (copper and fiber optic), and conduits to obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities by performing the following duties.
Essential Job Functions
- Selects routing of lines, sizes of conduits, copper, and fiber optic lines, and all necessary equipment/materials for the project
- Prepares detailed construction drawings, cost analysis (materials and labor costs) for approval
- Coordinate with permitting authorities to obtain necessary approvals
- Prepares unit tabulations needed and coordinates ordering of materials and equipment
- Involved with internal construction crews and contractors in the construction phase of the project to ensure conformance to all engineering specifications and construction methods meet all standards and company expectations
- Providing excellent customer service by following the company’s customer service standards. Ownership, Professionalism, Troubleshooting, keeping customers informed, and providing customers with an experience beyond their expectations.
- Minimal overnight travel may be required for this position

Competencies
- Basic understanding of fiber optics, copper networks, and OSP infrastructure
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
- Basic understanding of communication cable counts (fiber optic and copper) is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS software (preferred)
- Proficient in mathematical skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret/edit CAD and Google Earth based mapping systems
- Ability to communicate with customers, employees, contractors, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand
- Ability to create a team environment and sustain employee morale
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Occasionally lifting to 50 lbs., bending, twisting, standing, walking, gripping, etc.
- Analyze situations and determine the best course of action

Work Environment
- This position requires being inside an office and outside
- Exposed to extreme temperatures
- Works around construction equipment
Education
Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Telecommunications preferred (or equivalent experience).
Other
This position is Safety Sensitive under the Oklahoma medical marijuana law
Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of management based on the needs of the business.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
