Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by factors such as the scope, complexity, and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; and other employment conditions. Employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentives as part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program.

What Is the Opportunity?

Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for inspecting, estimating, negotiating, and evaluating 1st and 3rd party auto physical damage claims, including personal and business insurance claims. The claim types involve basic to moderate physical damage coverages such as collision, comprehensive, property damage, rental, towing, fire, theft, flood, lightning, diminished value, and injury-related claims. The Auto Claim Professional will handle the resolution and settlement of these claims, serving as a technical resource and providing guidance to claim staff to achieve optimal outcomes. This role is fully remote, may include mobile work, and does not involve team leadership.

What Will You Do?
  1. Deliver consistent service quality throughout the claim lifecycle, including prompt contact, clear communication, expectation setting, and follow-through.
  2. Manage work assignments effectively and travel to inspect vehicles or equipment as needed.
  3. Scope claims using technical expertise and company resources to accurately determine claim values.
  4. Establish the physical damage claim value of losses.
  5. Prepare and document accurate damage appraisals and values according to regulations and guidelines.
  6. Partner with the Claim Professional from investigation through recovery to ensure proper resolution.
  7. Negotiate claims with customers and repair facilities to reach agreement on values and payments.
  8. Determine settlement amounts for total loss claims, including coverage and deductibles.
  9. Negotiate and initiate payments, including total loss and rental reimbursement.
  10. Assist other lines of business with inspections and catastrophe response.
  11. Track savings and referrals, review coverage, and manage the repair process when appropriate.
  12. Establish and maintain claim and expense reserves.
  13. Develop and update action plans and manage vehicle repairs to ensure timely resolution.
  14. Communicate damage assessments post-negotiation and obtain authorization for payments.
  15. Maintain necessary insurance licenses and participate in our Catastrophe Response Program, which may include deployment and extended travel.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Technical School Degree preferred; state appraiser and claim handling licenses are also preferred.
  • At least two years of auto appraisal experience preferred; prior insurance carrier experience is a plus.
  • Strong technical knowledge of auto repair, terminology, and construction.
  • Familiarity with claims appraisal systems and claim operations; proficiency in Windows, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to participate in Auto Catastrophe response, including extended deployment.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and a customer-centric approach.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to stay current on laws and regulations and pursue ongoing education.
  • Basic analytical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Intermediate auto technical knowledge and negotiation skills.
What is a Must Have?
  • High School Degree or GED with at least one year of auto appraisal experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
