Job description

About Evergreen Energy Partners

Evergreen Energy Partners is a virtual full-service energy efficiency firm. We employ experts experienced in advancing energy efficiency initiatives for a wide array of clients. Our team members are in strategic locations across the United States.

We are a supportive team that rewards individual initiative and performance. We have a progressive culture that embraces work-life balance while working in a virtual office environment from your home. This winning combination has resulted in repeated selection among the top companies on Oregon Business Magazine's list of 100 Best Companies to Work for in Oregon.

Position Description: Outreach Specialist, Utah

The Outreach Specialist recruits, enrolls, activates, and supports new and under participating trade allies in the Rocky Mountain Power Wattsmart Business program. The position develops relationships with contractors, distributors, manufacturer representatives, and other market actors; helps new trade allies identify and submit their first projects; and maintains disciplined follow-through until partners are participating consistently. This is a market-facing business-development position that combines relationship development, practical program guidance, opportunity tracking, and regional field outreach. Success is measured by active trade ally participation, qualified opportunities advanced, projects submitted, and energy savings generated through the trade ally network.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about energy efficiency, customer-focused delivery, and developing productive market relationships. The successful candidate will thrive in a results-oriented environment, take ownership of assigned opportunities, and turn outreach activity into measurable program participation.

Successful Candidate:
  • Is comfortable initiating conversations with contractors, distributors, manufacturer representatives, customers, and other market actors and can establish rapport quickly.
  • Is a self-starter who is highly organized, dependable, responsive, and focused on measurable outcomes.
  • Takes ownership of assigned opportunities, follows commitments through to completion, and proactively communicates when work is delayed, blocked, or requires reassignment.
  • Is receptive to feedback, able to adapt to changing program priorities, and recognizes when technical or policy questions should be escalated to a subject-matter expert.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit prospective trade allies in targeted markets and reengage inactive or under participating allies.
  • Guide trade allies through enrollment, orientation, program requirements, and submission of their first project, providing structured support until participation becomes repeatable.
  • Manage assigned prospects and opportunities from initial contact through closure, prioritizing high-potential opportunities and establishing clear actions, owners, and target dates.
  • Build relationships with contractors, distributors, manufacturer representatives, customers, and other market actors through purposeful visits, training, trade shows, open houses, and community events.
  • Generate, document, and follow up on actionable leads from visits, referrals, campaigns, trainings, events, and other market-development initiatives.
  • Maintain working knowledge of program offerings, requirements, tools, and documentation; provide approved guidance and coordinate subject-matter expert support when needed.
  • Coordinate complete and timely handoffs to project coordinators and technical specialists while maintaining visibility into project progress.
  • Maintain timely CRM records and an accurate, prioritized opportunity pipeline that documents commitments, next steps, projected savings, timing, and participation status.
  • Coordinate outreach involving managed accounts with appropriate program and utility representatives to prevent overlapping or conflicting communications.

Performance will be assessed using measures such as trade allies recruited and approved, first projects submitted, inactive trade allies reactivated, qualified opportunities advanced, projects and savings originating from outreach, timely CRM documentation, completion of follow-up commitments, quality of handoffs, and contributions to outreach campaigns, trainings, and events.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • High school diploma with higher education, vocational training, or equivalent experience in contractor outreach, account development, market engagement, energy efficiency, lighting, mechanical systems, distribution, utility programs, or related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in contractor outreach, account development, market engagement, energy efficiency, utility programs, electrical or mechanical distribution, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with lighting, HVAC/mechanical systems, controls, commercial energy efficiency, or utility incentive programs is preferred but not required if the candidate demonstrates strong business-development ability and the capacity to learn technical program concepts.
  • Experience using Salesforce or another CRM to manage prospects, commitments, and opportunities is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience working successfully in a virtual or home-office environment is helpful.
Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting for extended periods at a computer, data entry, proficient typing.
  • Talking on the telephone or video conference calls for extended periods.
  • Walking through large-scale facilities while looking up in order to count fixtures.
  • Climbing up to 100' on steel framework/platforms/ladders (occasionally).
  • Vision – near/far.
  • Spatial ability/depth perception/color discrimination.
  • Speak/hear, provide clear, accurate communication, hear telephone.

The Company will make reasonable accommodations, which will allow the employee to perform the position's essential job functions.

Other Requirements:
  • Drug test – must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Pre-employment background check.
  • A solid internet connection, a dedicated and fully equipped home office that is set up for public or client-facing virtual on-screen meetings and a reliable phone.
  • Evergreen will provide a computer (programs for the position included), two monitors, monitor stand, speakers, webcam, docking station, wireless keyboard and mouse and surge suppressor.
  • We are a fully remote telecommuting organization. This position offers a significant amount of flexibility in line with meeting responsibilities, and some evening, early morning and weekend meetings and events are inherent in this position.
  • Valid driver's license, dependable transportation, along with verifiable insurance are required.
  • Must reside along Utah's Wasatch Front, with a preference for Salt Lake County, and be able to travel throughout the assigned service territory.
Benefits:

In addition to your competitive salary, medical/dental/vision plan, disability, and life insurance, and 401(k), we'll provide:

  • Generous paid time off (PTO) so you can recharge and enjoy life, plus $500 provided annually when you take a week-long vacation.
  • 401(k) company contributions to help build your nest egg.
  • Discretionary bonus based on performance because your work deserves to be rewarded.
  • Professional development funds to learn new skills and grow.
