Job summary

MWR Parent & Outreach Services at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, seeks a full-time candidate for the Child & Youth Services program, focusing on family support and child development initiatives.

  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., walk, bend, stoop, and stand as required.

Job description

This Full-Time position is with MWR Parent & Outreach Services at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Employee Childcare Fee

Available to MWR CYS Regular and FLEX (working a minimum of 15 hours)

  • First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees)
  • Second and Subsequent Child: 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees)

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should not include photos. To be found eligible, resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities as they pertain to the qualifications listed below.

  1. Successful completion of an undergraduate Degree that included or was supplemented by major study (at least 24 semester hours) in fieldwork, which directly relates to CYS Services such as early childhood/elementary/secondary/special education, child/youth development, psychology, youth program administration, or closely related field.
  2. OR A combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in a subject matter field (24 semester hours) appropriate to position (see above), plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normal acquired through the successful completion of the 4 year course of study described above.

In addition, all candidates must possess:

  1. At least 24 months working with child and/or youth programs.
  2. Experience in child and your program administration.
  3. The ability to plan and organize problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
  5. The physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., walk, bend stoop and stand on a routine basis.

Duties may involve working indoors and outdoors.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who submit resumes reflecting the following experience will be considered "Highly Preferred" and may be sent first for consideration. At least 1 year working in one of the following Dept of Defense Child & Youth Services positions: Assistant Director, Training Specialist, Supervisory Education Technician, or Facility Director.
