Job summary

ProMedica is seeking a Phlebotomist in Monroe, LA. You will collect specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for patients before, during and after collection.

The role includes pre-analytic tasks and responsibilities to ensure specimen quality; you will use QA data to improve services and may assist in training new associates. Preferred candidates hold a phlebotomy diploma or 6 months of experience, with registration such as PBT(ASCP) being a plus.

• 6 months’ experience in a high-volume phlebotomy environment (about 30 draws a day) or 3+ week clinical rotation with 100 venipunctures.

Job Summary:

As a ProMedica Phlebotomist, you will collect products and/or specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for the patient before, during and after collection. You will perform pre-analytic tasks for sample preparation including centrifugation, decanting, specimen distribution and specimen packaging.

In this role, you will use quality assurance data to enhance services and recommend changes in procedures to address quality issues and provide customer satisfaction.

You are required to be familiar with test names and abbreviations and cross-referencing tests to specimen types. You will also be required to follow strict principles of asepsis and antisepsis and use your leadership skills to help train new associates or students.

REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma or equivalent License/Certification/Experience:

• A diploma from an accredited phlebotomy training institute OR 6 months phlebotomy experience.

• 6 months’ experience in a high-volume phlebotomy environment (approximately 30 draws a day), or

• Successful completion of an academic program which included substantial, practical clinical phlebotomy experience (EX: 3+ week clinical student rotation program in a hospital setting or clinical student rotation with 100 successful venipunctures completed).

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Professional registration preferred [i.e., PBT(ASCP)]
