Job summary

ProMedica Arrowhead Medical Center in Maumee, Ohio is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for patients before, during and after collection. You will handle pre-analytic tasks like centrifugation, decanting, distribution and packaging of specimens.

The role requires familiarity with test names and abbreviations, adherence to asepsis, and leadership to train new associates or students. This position is full-time in the Laboratory department.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Diploma from an accredited phlebotomy training institute OR 6 months phlebotomy experience.
• 6 months' experience in a high-volume phlebotomy environment (approximately 30 draws a day), or
• Successful completion of an academic program which included substantial, practical clinical phlebotomy experience (e.g., 3+ week clinical rotation with 100 venipunctures).

Responsibilities

• Collect products and/or specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for the patient before, during and after collection.
• Perform pre-analytic tasks for sample preparation including centrifugation, decanting, specimen distribution and specimen packaging.
• Follow strict asepsis and antisepsis principles and use leadership skills to help train new associates or students.
• Use quality assurance data to enhance services and address quality issues.
