Job summary

CEDA is seeking an Outreach Intake Specialist in Harvey, IL to support Cook County residents with energy assistance programs. You will perform intake activities on-site or remotely, educate customers, and document information accurately across databases.

The role requires valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and bilingual Spanish skills. Travel across Cook County is expected, including evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or 2+ years of Outreach/Community Engagement experience.
• Valid Driver’s License within 30 days of hire.
• Reliable transportation to transport CEDA Outreach materials.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Intake Activities: perform on-site and/or remote Energy Services Program intake in Cook County with accurate data collection and customer education.
• Provide information and resources to ensure a positive experience and efficient intake via in-person, phone, or electronic communications.
• Collect and document customer information in relevant databases with high accuracy and confidentiality.
• Identify customer needs using active listening to ensure access to all eligible programs.
• Attend and coordinate local events, develop materials, signage, and partnerships to raise program awareness.

Salary: $21.87 - $22.88/hour

CEDA (Community and Economic Development Association) is a dynamic nonprofit organization committed to empowering communities and combating poverty. We are seeking an Outreach Intake Specialist to join our Energy Services Department and play a pivotal role in connecting Cook County residents to essential energy assistance programs.

What You’ll Do:

• Conduct Intake Activities: Perform on‑site and/or remote Energy Services Program application intake throughout Cook County, ensuring accurate data collection and customer education.
• Customer Support: Provide information and resources to ensure a positive experience and efficient intake process via in‑person, phone, or electronic communications.
• Data Management: Collect and document customer information in relevant databases with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
• Needs Assessment: Utilize active listening and probing techniques to identify customer needs and ensure access to all eligible programs.
• Community Outreach: Attend and coordinate local events, develop materials and signage, and build partnerships with community organizations to enhance program awareness.
• Travel Requirements: Adhere to a rotating schedule for intake needs across Cook County, including potential evenings and weekends.

What We’re Looking For:

• Required:
  • Associate’s Degree or 2+ years of Outreach or Community Engagement experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to transport CEDA Outreach materials.
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred).

Preferred:

• Experience in Energy Assistance Programs or relevant social service operations.
• Familiarity with Adobe, Canva, or other design software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
