Job summary

The Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma is seeking an Outreach Coordinator in Carnegie, OK to lead street and agency outreach for homeless Veterans through the SSVF program. This role will be the program's local expert on outreach, rapid rehousing, and transitional services.

Responsibilities include conducting outreach, connecting Veterans to housing resources, delivering bus passes and food boxes, and coordinating with the Case Manager to determine eligibility and referrals.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred experience: one (1) year of prior work experience working with homeless individuals and/or households or prior experience working with military and/or Veteran populations. (experience is not required)
  • Ability to work independently while meeting work deadlines and program standards
  • Six (6) months of prior outreach work experience preferred.
  • Prior military experience preferred but not required.

  • Provide resources for Veterans like food and shelter options.
  • Routinely deliver bus passes and food boxes to homeless Veterans
  • Work closely with the SSVF Case Manager to assist homeless Veterans with the program eligibility determination process and refer homeless Veterans to other community services to meet their needs.
  • Support community efforts to end veteran homelessness by reviewing HMIS and Built for Zero veteran data to inform outreach efforts.
  • Supports efforts of community coordinated entry to advocate for veteran's housing opportunities.
  • Provide office coverage as needed to help support walk-ins.
  • Coordinates veterans’ services outreach events as instructed or needed.
  • Ability to work independently while meeting work expectations and program standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Requirements
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma State driver's license and be insurable under the Kiowa Tribe's Driving Policy
  • Must submit and pass a background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain a DOJ clearance to enter military bases to complete job duties.
  • Must submit to and pass drug testing.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Occasional sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing
  • Occasional medium work that includes moving objects up to 20-50 pounds.
  • Constantly operating tribal vehicles (Handicapped accessible 9-passenger Van)
  • Constantly moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Some duties may require outside work in various weather elements to complete job duties.
  • May be required to work outside the normal work schedule to complete job duties.
