HPS is conducting a key-person search on behalf of OWLS Lacrosse.

If you bring positive energy and a passion for bridging the opportunity gap for youth in Chicago’s most historically underserved communities, this opportunity may be for you.

About OWLS Lacrosse

OWLS Lacrosse (Outreach With Lacrosse & Schools) was founded in 2011 to empower youth by creating pathways for students from elementary school through high school and beyond—equipping them with the skills, opportunities, and networks to thrive in school, careers, and life.

The mission is to combine lacrosse, mentorship, and academic support to promote personal growth, school success, and postsecondary readiness for youth in historically underserved communities.

Why Join OWLS?

At OWLS, you’ll have the opportunity to make a direct impact on students’ lives through mentorship and sport while being part of a small, mission-driven team that values growth, trust, and shared purpose. As we work to expand equitable youth development pathways across Chicago, you’ll build meaningful relationships with youth, families, and schools citywide.

This is also a unique chance to grow your career alongside a rapidly expanding organization with a bold and evolving mission.

Position Summary

The Outreach Coordinator leads the implementation and growth of OWLS’ Outreach Program, delivering lacrosse and SEL-based programming to elementary and middle school students across Chicago. This role fosters student confidence, family trust, and school partnerships—key entry points into the OWLS pathway—and has long-term impact.

The Coordinator also supports Competitive Play offerings and Junior Academy transitions by bridging programs through key events, maintaining relationship continuity, and providing occasional academic support.

Key Responsibilities

Program Delivery & Coaching (50%)

  • Lead in-school and after-school lacrosse sessions at multiple partner schools.
  • Deliver structured, high-energy programming that develops lacrosse skills and reinforces core values.
  • Foster teamwork, connection, and positive peer engagement through team-building activities.
  • Manage student behavior and support individual growth in inclusive environments.
  • Track attendance, manage sign-ups, and maintain accurate records.
  • Organize, transport, and maintain lacrosse equipment.
  • Communicate regularly with school staff on logistics, scheduling, and student needs.

Recruitment, Transition & Retention (25%)

  • Facilitate marketing and registration for Outreach clinics and camps.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families as they enter OWLS programming.
  • Support onboarding into Junior Academy and Competitive Play offerings while maintaining relationships with graduates of the Outreach program.
  • Attend key Junior Academy events to support student transitions.

Community Engagement & Visibility (10%)

  • Represent OWLS at school events, open houses, and family nights.
  • Help plan seasonal showcases and celebrations of student progress.
  • Support efforts to increase family engagement and program visibility.

Operational Support & Reporting (10%)

  • Maintain participation records and help monitor engagement trends.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and collaborative planning sessions.
  • Support logistics related to inventory, scheduling, and transportation.
  • Assist with enrichment days, tutoring sessions, and field trips.
  • Help track student progress and support family communication regarding academics.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Deep commitment to OWLS’ mission and a strong personal drive to support youth through sports-based development.
  • 1–3 years of experience in coaching, teaching, or youth programming—especially in under-resourced school settings.
  • Confident in managing student behavior and leading structured, high-energy group sessions.
  • Adaptable to shifting schedules, seasonal changes, and the unpredictability of school-based environments.
  • Resilient and solutions-oriented—excited to grow programs and thrive in real-time challenges.
  • Creative and flexible—comfortable working in non-traditional learning spaces.
  • Strong relationship-builder with youth, families, and school partners.
  • Experience with (or willingness to learn) lacrosse instruction.
  • Organized, proactive, and collaborative team player.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Must be comfortable traveling across Chicago during and after school hours.

Pay Range and Compensation Package

In addition to a competitive salary, medical and dental insurance plans and a 401(K) retirement plan are provided.
