Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking an experienced hospital coder in Atlanta to review outpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS codes for Surgery, Wound Care, and Observation. The role emphasizes accuracy across multi-site clinical documentation and coding guidelines.

Ideal candidates will have hospital coding experience and hold RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC or similar AHIMA/AAA certifications, with preference for remote coding exposure and multifacility experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review, analyzes, and assigns codes based on ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 guidelines for outpatient medical records, including hospital outpatient surgery, wound care and observation.

Responsibilities

Reviews, analyzes, and assigns codes based on appropriate coding guidelines and criteria for outpatient medical record documentation to include, but not limited to: medical, diagnostic and surgical documentation for assignment of the correct ICD-10-CM and /or CPT-4 HCPCS codes.Primary coding responsibility is Hospital Outpatient Surgery, Wound Care and Observation.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• Hospital coding experience Required
• Experience in coding at a multi-hosptial organization and remote coding experience is Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• One or more certifications Upon Hire Required
• RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator or
• RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician or
• CCS-Certified Coding Specialist or
• CCA - Certified Coding Associate or
• CCS-P or
• CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H or
• Coding Certificate program (AHIMA accredited) Preferred
