Description:

Accurately code Outpatient Surgery and Observation records for the classification of all diseases, injuries, procedures, and operations using the ICD10CM and CPT4 coding systems for BHSF facilities. Ensure compliance with coding rules and regulations according to Regulatory Agencies (CMS, OIG). Collaborate with team members to meet departmental and Accounts Receivable (AR) goals. Abstract prescribed data elements from medical records. Estimated pay range for this position is $26.50 - $34.45 per hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications:

Degrees:

• High School diploma, Certificate, GED, Training, or Experience.

Licenses & Certifications:

• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist - CCS or RHIT

Additional Qualifications:

• Required Coding Certificate; Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Same Day Surgery (SDS) coding.
• Knowledge of encoder systems, outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS), APCs, and Ambulatory Surgical Center payment system (ASC).
• Thorough understanding of National and Local Coverage Determination (NCD and LCD) policies.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Effective communication skills with coworkers, management, and physicians.
• Required CCS certification within 2 years of employment if not already certified, except for Boca entities.
