Description:

Accurately codes Outpatient Surgery and Observation records for the classification of all diseases, injuries, procedures, and operations using the ICD10CM and CPT4 coding systems for BHSF facilities. Ensures compliance with coding rules and regulations according to regulatory agencies (CMS, OIG). Works as a team to meet departmental and AR goals. Abstracts prescribed data elements from medical records. Estimated pay range for this position is $26.50 - $34.45 per hour, depending on experience.

Degrees:

• High School, Certification, GED, Training, Experience

Licenses & Certifications:

• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist - CCS or RHIT

Additional Qualifications:

• Required Coding Certificate; preferred Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in SDS (Same Day Surgery) coding
• Knowledge of encoder systems, outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS), APCs, and Ambulatory Surgical Center payment system (ASC)
• Knowledge and thorough understanding of National and Local Coverage Determinations (NCD and LCD policies)
• Competency in Word and Excel
• Effective communication skills with coworkers, management, and physicians
• Required CCS certification within 2 years of employment if not already certified for all entities except Boca
