Job Description

The Rehab Services Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

This position is a non-licensed staff member who assists the professional staff with patient care, focusing on activities that do not require clinical decision-making. The staff member also assists with clerical, maintenance duties, and tasks related to the operation of the Rehabilitation Services Department.

Responsibilities

• Follow standard precautions and Northwestern Medicine infection control policies and procedures.
• Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly; clean equipment according to standards.
• Maintain equipment cleaning logs and perform monthly maintenance independently.
• Ensure EOC meets JCAHO standards at all times.
• Perform tasks appropriate for the Rehab Services Tech, treating patients under direct supervision and anticipating therapist’s needs.
• Communicate promptly with the therapist regarding any changes in patient status or responses.
• Interact professionally with patients and families, involving them in the care plan and providing explanations prior to care.
• Consult with other departments as needed for interdisciplinary care.
• Document treatment accurately and appropriately.
• Greet patients and guests, confirm identity, and provide necessary visit information.
• Provide accurate and timely updates to patients and customers.
• Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient visits at various locations.
• Additional duties may include obtaining consents, managing communication needs, updating patient records, collecting payments, and managing inventory.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma; BLS Certified within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, healthcare experience, knowledge of medical terminology, bilingual abilities.
